Founded by members of the MMAS, the Mont Lumiere Foundation (MLF) is a non-profit organization that aims to provide Islam-centred mental health, educational, and spiritual support to post-graduate students. MLF services include free chaplain services, lectures, educational events, and more.
The Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec (CCIQ) Memorial Award was established in commemoration of the 2017 massacre at the CCIQ in Quebec City. It is awarded to a McGill student who has demonstrated a commitment to fostering the inclusion of Muslims within Quebec and Canadian society. Thanks in large part to the 2021 fundraising efforts of the McGill Muslim Alumni Society, and a McGill24 match from the University, this award is now endowed to exist in perpetuity at an increased value of $3000/year!
The MMAS community helped fundraise over $40,000 to help support the education of Palestinian refugees at McGill University. The aim of the fund is to cover tuition and living expenses for the first year of an undergraduate degree. The MMAS has partnered with the WUSC Refugee Program to provide all forms of support for the student refugee. Learn more about the fundraiser and support the effort by clicking below.
